"Will" is a gorgeous boy from our Blaze and Sonny litter. He has shown a limited number of times and now is on 9 points towards his Championship. This win was extra special for him because he won it over 50+ dogs from the classes making him the #7 toller in the country as of October 20th. Way to go Team Will!

September 9-11, 2011 in Osoyoos BC at the Skaha Kennel Club show was a very successful weekend for the Tollchester kids!

"Sky" MBBPIS MBPIG CAN CH Tollchester's Looking Up, finished her championship with Winners Female and Best Of Winners at Saturdays dog show! "Luna" Tollchester's Wish'ful Thinking also did a lovely job on the weekend taking Winners Female, Best Of Winners and Best Opposite Sex over specials for her first 3 points! "Bogey" Douanc Hates Meeces To Pieces also had a successful weekend going Winners Dog for two points towards his CH title. Way to go "kids"! Thank-you to the lovely owners and co-owners of these wonderful dogs for making the weekend so enjoyable.

"Sky" Tollchester's Looking Up, competed in the Baby Puppy (3-6 months) class at the show and was awarded 3 Best Baby Puppy In Group wins including two (2) that went on to winning her BEST BABPY PUPPY IN SHOW! Topper reaches for the top at the Fort Saint John show on May long weekend. In 6 shows he recieved 5 group 2nds and 1 group 1st making him the #1 Duck Toller In Canada! We would like to thank his judges for recognizing our handsome star.
Topper wasn't the only one who had a good weekend in the toller ring. We are also proud to announce "Katrina" Tollchester A Storm Is Brewing won 4 points over the weekend towards her Championship! Tuesday Night Handling Class With The "Up" Litter!

'Finn' with the Kischer family, 'Sky' with the Lee family, 'Coaster' with the Peterse family (who was absent for the photo) and 'Logan' who's living here at Tollchester. We had a lovely time at the puppy play date and look forward to seeing you all in the rings again in the future :o)

Reminder: Friday an hour after Best In Show (approx 5pm) there is a mock dog show called a "Sanction Match" or "Fun Match". Registrations are done at the show prior to the match - we recommend coming between 3pm and 4pm for sign up.

Harmony X MacKay "Up" Litter January 8, 2011

Spark is a gorgeous boy from the litter who will be going to West Vancouver as a loving companion. Sparkwho's new name is Finn is a family man with a cuddly and sweet personality. He's an easy going dude who loves to please his family. Possibly one day he maybe a stud dog? He will for sure make a wonderful pet to a lovely family and their children.

Coaster is a very handsome boy from the litter. He will be going to live with a family in Cloverdale. Coaster has tons of personality and thinks he is the "class clown". He will make a loving family pet for a great family and their children.

Fizz is a handsome boy from the litter. He is living with co-owners in the lower mainland. Fizz who is now Chusty is very outgoing, cuddly and sweet. He is a happy go lucky guy who makes friends anywere he goes!

Flip is a handsome fella who has warmed his way into Pauls heart. It appears Flip will be staying at tollchester for a little while.... maybe forever?! Flips new name is Logan and he will be entering the show rings in July!

Fly is a good looking young man who is currently looking for a home! Fly is very cuddly and sweet. He does have a slight independent side but deep down he's a marshmellow. Fly has gone to live in Powell River BC.

Sky is a very pretty girl from the litter. She is a outgoing girl with a "look at me" personality. She is co-owned with a local family. We look forward to showing her in the future.

Cheer is a gorgeous girl from the litter. She will be going to live in North Vancouver. Cheer has a very sweet personality. She loves to give kisses to everyone she meets and is always wagging her tail! Cheer will make a wonderful companion for her family and their children.

Topper hit the rings running after almost 2 months off from dog shows. In only two weekend in the ring totally 5 days Topper has recieved 4 Group placements. Delayed Eukanuba Posting

I apologize for the delay with the results from Eukanuba. We had a ill family member this month who passed away days before Christmas. I was spending every day bedside with them and am happy for every moment I had.

Eukanuba this year was a fun weekend with friends. Topper wasn't a "Winner" in the show rings but he's always one in our hearts. Toppers little brother Nicholas was the winner of the prestigous Best Of Breed award at the event. We are very proud of both Nicholas and his owner Amy as well as his breeder Linda who leased our girl Storm to repeat the lovely breeding that gave us our lovely boy Topper. We are thrilled we could share this experience with them and are honored to have such a handsome boy in the genepool!

I hope everyone has been having a lovely holiday season and I wish you all the best.

Halloween weekend at the Tradex Dog Show (the largest dog show in Canada!) was a very successful weekend for the dogs who represented Tollchester.

At the event we had 7 entries including "Topper" AM CAN CH Tollchester's Top Secret co-owned by Connie Redmond, "Ziggy" SU(u) AM CAN CH Pikkinokka's Ziggy Stardust co-owned by Connie Redmond, "Jackson" Tollchester's Star Of Th'Century co-owned by Hardip Gill, "Will" Tollchester's No Problem co-owned by Bernie Schiemel, "Bogey" Douance Hates Meeces To Pieces fostered by Christy Moschopedis, "Diva" Tollchester's Problem Child fostered by Darlene Crowe, and "Juliet" Tollchester's Secret Luv Affair.

The first day of the show Diva came into season so we decided to pull her from showing over the weekend (she was a little concerned about people near her bum... can you blame her?!) so we were down to 6 entries. On Thursday "Jackson" recieved the Winners Dog and Best Of Winners award which gave him 3 points towards his Championship. On Saturday "Topper" won Best Of Breed which got him into the Sporting group ring and onto TV which will air on December 11/12 on TSN. Also on Saturday "Bogey" won Winners Dog which gave him his first 2 points towards his Championship title! On Sunday "Will" won Winners Dog and Best Of Winners which gave him his first 4 points towards his Championship title! "Juliet" recieved Reserve Winners Female both Thursday and Friday. She lost Winners Female to a pretty girl "Bailey" who was the mother of our Oops litter in December '09.

Overall it was a wonderful weekend at the show. We thank everyone who came out to support the tollers and visit us at the show. We hope to see y'all again next year :o)

Biggest Dog Show In Canada Is Next Weekend!

THE LARGEST DOG SHOW IN CANADA IS IN ABBOTSFORD BC HALLOWEEN WEEKEND!

Come one and come all to join the fun at this years annual dog show in Abbotsford BC at the Tradex Convention Center. There will be 15+ Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers entered so this will be a great opprotunity to meet breeders and see a variation of red heads!

The Tradex convention center is located across the street from the Abbotsford Airport which makes for easy accessibility and plenty of parking. There are dozens of dog venders present at the show which makes for great shopping for the fur kids!

2010 National Specialty Wins in Minnesota

I'm very proud to announce that out of the 4 dogs entered who have sires or dams owned by Tollchester we had 4 winners. These dogs are advocates for what breeder who work together can achieve... way to go kids!

In conformation "Ducky" (Bounce X Ziggy) owned by Cheri Lewitzke achieved a 1st in the 12-18 month old class, "Pink" (Lil X Sender) achieved a 1st in the open class, "Topper" (Storm X Maverick) owned by Simone Sortwell and Connie Redmond achieved Select Male in breed, and "Nicholas" (Storm X Maverick) owned by Amy Soderman achieved Best of Breed!

We also had some wins from "Ducky" and "Nicholas" in Obedience and are excited to post those results when they are confirmed. Today "Ducky" and "Nicholas" are playing in the field for some working titles and we look forward to hearing how they do ......results to be continued!

Toller Time at Buntzen Lake on September 18th

The 2010 Fall Toller Gathering was a success! We had over a dozen families and their tollers join us at Buntzen Lake for fun in the "sun"... well it was more like cloud and a drizzle of rain but it was still fun.

There was plenty of food and drinks going around and tons of smiles and stories being traded. The redheads enjoyed the sand between their toes and the water rushing over their coats while having a reuinon with their relatives.

We want to thank everyone for coming out to the event. For those of you who couldn't make it to the event we hope to see you next year at the Spring Picnic.

We'd like to remind everyone who is eligible to play in obedience, rally and conformation that Canada's Largest Dog Show is coming up at the end of October. The Greek "God" litter by Picasso and Tanya

This litter has been very uniform regarding temperament. We have had the joy of getting to know boys "Perseus" "Hercules" and "Apollo" as well as the girls "Athena" "Afodite" and "Persephone"

All the puppies in the litter are fairly laid back puppies with a great 'off switch'. Many of them love to cuddle and a few love giving kisses to you while enjoying snuggle time. The most outgoing puppy in the litter is Perseus with his "say hi to me first" attitude. Due to this he has been progressively become everyone in the homes favorite puppy!

We have completed basic structure evaluations on the litter and everyone has very nice structure. Any of these puppies could be worked in the field or sports as their conformation is ideal for active homes. A few have too much "icing" so they do not qualify for the conformation ring.

"Confetti" is a gorgeous girl from this litter. She has a pretty head, nice length in neck, good topline and balanced angles. She is a very sweet girl who loves to cuddle and is a joy to be around. She is available to a home interested in showing/breeding as a co-own or foster dog.

"Faith" is a pretty girl from this litter. She has a beautiful outline with balanced angles, good length of neck, a wonderful topline with a very pretty head and perfect markings. She would have made a wonderful show dog but unfortunatly she is missing a 1/4 of her left ear due to her mother being overzelus during her birthing. She has gone to live with a lovely local family as a companion.

"Hope" is a very pretty girl from this litter. She has a pretty head, with great length of neck, balanced angles and a nice topline, she also has perfect markings too! She will be going to live with a breeder in Westbank (West Kelowna) soon.

"Luna" is a pretty girl from this litter. She has a decent length of neck, good angles and is a balanced puppy with a very pretty head and nice markings. She's the spit fire in the litter with a "look at me attitude". She would make a ideal sports dog or active companion with her fun loving personality.

"Destiny" is a pretty girl from this litter. She has a lovely head, balanced angles, nice topline and perfect markings! She is very outgoing and loves people. She is a show dog in the making! Destiny will be staying at Tollchester for now until we see how she matures.

"Dickens" is a nice male from the litter. He has nice angles, a gorgeous head, with good length of neck and a perfect topline. This in combination with his "almost" perfect markings could make him a nice show dog. He will be staying at Tollchester until we see how he matures.

"Floyd" is a gorgeous male from this litter. He has nice angles, with good length in neck, nice column legs and ideal topline. Floyd is a very sweet and loving boy who likes to snuggle... he will make an ideal companion for a loving home.

"Token" is a handsome boy from this litter. He has nice depth of chest with good rib spring, good proportions with nice angles and a ideal topline. Token is a very sweet and sensitive boy who will be staying at Tollchester to see how he matures.

"Max" is a very nice boy from this litter. He has a lovely forchest with great balance, a nice short back with good bend in stiffle and a lovely topline. He is an effectionate boy who likes to snuggle but is also independent with a "stand out" out personality. He will make a ideal show dog.

Skaha Dog Show September 10-12

Was a very fun weekend for Tollchester Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. The weekend was filled with dog shows, trips to the lake, photo sessions on the docks, and dinners with great friends sponsored by the local club.

On Friday Max was BOB while Skeena (a Topper daughter) went BOS and BOW for 2 points and WD went to Jackson (Harmony X Ziggy) owned by Hardip Gill for 1 point. Friday night was appy night sponsored by the club where we had loads of fun with friends.

On Saturday Max was BOB while Skenna was BOS for one point and BOW/BP/WD went to Jackson for a 2 point win for the young man. Saturday after the show was the peach of a puppy tournament were Jackson and Kodee played. Jackson did a lovely job being handled by his breeder Simone Sortwell. Kodee showed like a pro with his owner Rico ...the two made an amazing team! Following the match was the club dinner which was presented in a lovely fashion and was very yummy! The evening was a hit and we had a lot of fun again with our friends at the dinner.

On Sunday Max was BOB while Skeena was BOS/BOW/BP and WD went to Jackson. Sunday was an early finish for the tollers and sporting group so we took advantage of the extra time and had lunch with friends. Following a meh meal at the local bistro we took the dogs down to the docks where we got some lovely photos of them... this was followed by some play time for the kids in the lake! Who could resist taking a dip in the warmest lake in BC?!

We'd like to thank all the owners and breeders of the wonderful dogs we had the honor of showing over the weekend. It was a blast to play with the red heads in the ring and just as much fun to hang out with our new and old friends. Can't wait for the summer shows again next year!

Kamloops show was a very successful weekend for Tollchester Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers!

"Topper" CAN AM CH Tollchester's Top Secret, was Best Of Breed (BOB) all 4 days and received two group 4ths in the sporting group! "Skeena" a Topper daughter picked up Winners Bitch (WB) three days in a row for her first points from the Sr. puppy class. "Kode" a Gunner (Topper's brother) son bred by Carolyn Doyle won Winners Dog (WD) three of the days to finish his Canadian Championship from the 12-18 month old class. "Jackson" Tollchester's Star Of Th'Centry owned by Hardip Gill was Winners Dog and Best of Winners as well as Best Puppy on Friday for his first 2 points towards his Canadian Championship from the Jr. Puppy class!

Congrats to all the winners on the weekend! Special thanks to all my friends who were there on the weekend and/or let me borrow their dogs for the show ....you make this game so much fun and I appreciate your support.

Tanya and Picasso's litter were born July 31, 2010 of 3 girls and 3 boys! From left to right and top to bottom we have boys "Hercules", "Apollo" and "Perseus" and girls "Athena", "Aphrodite" and "Persephane".

The pups are growing fast and just starting to open their eyes. They are figuring out they have legs and slowly learning to crawl vs belly slidding across their cribe.

Tanya is being "super mom"! She's doing a lovely job nursing them and recently has decided to start taking time in the day to spend some time away from her kids.

We are excited with the litter and look forward to watching them grow!

From left to right and top to bottom we have girls "Confetti", "Faith", "Hope", "Luna" and "Destiny", and boys "Floyd", "Token", "Max" and "Dickens".

Piper is doing a wonderful job as a mother! She has started leaving the nest for some free time to herself but is still nursing her children at least 6 times a day and sleeps with her children at bed time.

The pups are starting to get their balance and are moving more and more everyday. They all are still a little unstable on their legs but are learning to walk quickly.

The children have started their potty training by moving into a larger home that consists of a bed and a paper area where they are doing a fabulous job leaning to go "potty".

We are very excited watching this litter grow up. All the puppies have dedication to learning and seem to be catching onto things very easily. Later this week we will be feeding them their first meal, we will have updates to follow and hope to have pics posted asap.

Sporting Dog Spectacular weekend for Tollchester

July 17/18 was a wonderful weekend in White Rock BC for Tollchester dogs at the Sporting Dog show. On Saturday "Topper" AM CAN CH Tollchester's Top Secret CGC co-owned by Connie Redmond was BOS at the confirmation show while his daughter "Skeena" was Best Puppy! Sunday "Topper" was awarded BOS at the BC Toller Regional Specialty (picture to the left). "Harmony" AM CH Tollchester California Dreamin' was Reserve Winners Bitch while her daughter "Shine" Tollchester's Brightest Star was best female puppy and her son "Jackson" Tollchester Star Of Th'Centry was Best Puppy In Specialty Show! Sundays afternoon sporting dog show's breed was won by Topper's son "Osiris" CAN CH Tollwest Tollchester Turn'M On with BOS going to Topper's sister "Faith" and Best Puppy going to his daughter "Skeena". All in all it was a great weekend in the conformation show for tollers.

Saturday after the show was the Tollchester BBQ where many of our lovely famlies came out to have fun in the sun with their red heads while enjoying a lovely meal of Steak, Salads and Desserts prepared by our wonderful cook Paul. Thank-you everyone who came out to the show. We look forward to seeing y'all again next Summer!

Tollchester Toller BBQ this Saturday in White Rock BC!

We will be hosting a BBQ on Saturday July 17, 2010 in White Rock between 5pm and 8pm - following the sporting dog show.

Our BBQ area will have 2-3 daytents plus a banner with "Tollchester" written across it and is located in the designated RV parking area across from the show grounds.

We will be supplying meat, salad, veggies, dessert and soda/water. There will be fresh water for the dogs, treats and areas for them to be crated, if required, during dinner. Please bring your own chair and alcohol. Also, don't forget to RSVP for the event so we can be prepared for everyone :)

The annual Spring Tollchester toller picnic held on June 5, 2010 was a success! The weather was perfect, there was plenty of food, a plethra of tennis balls, and a number of wonderful families with their loved companions.

We apologize to those of you who ended up back in Maple Ridge thanks to our directions! We were happy to see despite our detour, many of you made it out to the event and had a good time.

We are currently planning a summer BBQ on the weekend of July 17th and will be sending out a email to everyone shortly about the location and details of the event.

CKC Conformation Shows - How They Work

To become a champion, a dog must win a total of ten points under at least three judges, be registered in the records of the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and defeat at least one dog in its own breed or been placed in it's group. The owner of the dog at the time of completing its championship will be issued a "championship certificate" by the CKC.

During CKC conformation showing the judge will compare each dog to it's standard of excellence. The order of dogs in each classed will be chosen by the judge as first thru forth. Remember, no dog is perfect (and everyone goes home with the best dog!) the judge will weigh each dogs pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses and place according to their vision of the perfect standard (and every judge makes different judgments!)

The very first thing you must understand about conformation is, is your dog eligable to compete?

Show Qualifications:

To be eligible for a Championship competition in a show approved by the CKC, a dog must meet the following requirements

a) It must be a purebred and of one of the breeds recognized by the Candaian Kennel Club

b) It must be registered or eligible for registration with the "Canadian Kennel Club"

c) It must be at least 6months old

If your dog meets the qualifications then it's time to enter a show. Show entries can be done online, by fax or by snail mail. You will need to get your application for the event from your show secretary.

Once you have entered the show ....

The first thing we need to go over is classes. Each dog will be judged according to their class. On your entry you will have chosen the class in which your dog is to compete in from the following categories.

Junior Puppy: For dogs at least 6months of age on the first day of the show, and under nine months of age.

Senior Puppy: For dogs at least 9months and under 12months of age

12-18months: For puppies at least 12months of age and under 18months of age

Canadian bred: For dogs born in Canada, champions in other countries excluded

Bred By Exhibitor: For dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder

Open: for all dogs

Veteran Class (a specialty option only) for all dogs over 7years of age and over on the day of specialty. The winners of the veterans male and female class do NOT compete for championship points but go directly to BOB competition. NOTE: Spayed or Neutered dogs Are eligible for competition in this class

Specials Only for any dog which has recorded CKC registration number or Even Registration Number and has attained the requested points for Championship status.

Exhibition Only all dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the cataloge with the same paticulars as dogs entered in regular competition. Dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or parades.

Regular Classes:

All dogs competing for points at a show are entered to one (or more) of the six offical classes for their breed and sex. The classes are as follows:

Junior Puppy: For dogs at least 6months of age on the first day of the show, and under nine months of age.

Senior Puppy: For dogs at least 9months and under 12months of age

12-18months: For puppies at least 12months of age and under 18months of age

Canadian bred: For dogs born in Canada, champions in other countries excluded

Bred By Exhibitor: For dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder

Open: for all dogs

It is possible for one dog to be entered in several classes. In each class the judge awards coloured ribbons, blue for first, red for second, yellow for third and white for fourth.

These classes will be judged in the above order. The catalogue will help you follow the classes so it is recommended you purchase a catalogue to follow the show.

Each class will be requested to come into the ring and stand to be compared. The judge then will have the class go around the ring as a group to compare the dogs. Following the group comparison each dog will be examined individually (checking teeth, coat textures, testicles, bone structure etc.) The dogs will also move individually following the examination.

During each class the dogs will also be compared to each other. The judge will have the class run (gait) around the ring to compare movement.

After his/her comparison the judge will point to his first, second, third and forth pick for the class.

At this time the dog and handlers will go to the appropriate numbers where they will be handed the ribbons that a appropriate for their win. First prize: blue, Second prize: red, Third prize: yellow, Forth prize: white.

Usually while the ribbons are being handed out by the judge the ring steward will call in the next class to be lined up and compared as a group. This process will continue until all the classes have been judged and awarded.

Following the final class the judges' next task will be to compare all first prize winners to each other for the prize of "Winners"....

Winners Classes

The order in which the winners will be called in to the ring to be compared will be reversed.. Open, Bred By, Canadian Bred, 12-18months, Senior puppy, Junior puppy.

Winners Male: After all the five official classes for males have been judged, the males undefeated in the official classes compete for Winners Male. Winners Male receives a purple ribbon. The winner of this class will also be awarded championship points according to the number of dogs' defeated as outlined below.

Reserve Winners Male: All dogs which have been defeated only by the awarded Winners (including the dog who earned second in the winners dogs class) are then judged for the award of Reserve Winners Male, which receives a mauve ribbon.

Remember! if a entry is cancelled or invalidated in anyway then the points won by Winners dog will be taken away and awarded to Reserve Winners Dog!

After the Reserve Winners Male is chosen, all six official classes for females are judged and the same procedure is followed to choose Winners Female and Reserve Winners Female

Specials Only

Dogs, usually champions, entered for specials only, are brought into the ring with the dogs awarded Winners Male and Winners Female for Best Of Breed judging.

Best Of Breed

Judging for best of breed is confined to the dogs awarded Winners Male and Winners Female and any dog entered for specials only in the breed. The winner of this competition has now defeated all the other competitors in this particular breed and receieves a red, white and blue ribbon.

Best Of Winners

The Winners Male and Winners Female are judged at the same time as the judging of best of breed. One will receive the award of Best Of Winners. The Winner of this competition receives a purple and gold ribbon. The best of winners of course may also be the best of breed as well.

*Final line up* what you will see as you watch is three dogs and handlers line up - the first is Best Of Breed, the second is Best Opposite Sex, and the last one is Best of Winners.

Assuming that none of those prizes was won by a puppy, the steward will call in the Best Puppy In Breed class.

Best Puppy In Breed

The final breed award is made to the best puppy in breed. All puppies which have not been defeated by another puppy during class judging compete. The winner receives a pale blue ribbon.

Best of Group (Group 1st)

The recognized breeds are divided into seven groups: Sporting , Hound, Working , Terriers , Toys and Non-Sporting dogs. The dogs awarded best of breed in each group are brought before the judge of the group who makes awards of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in group, where dogs receive blue, red, yellow and white rosettes respectively.

Best Puppy in Group

The judge will also select best puppy in group or best canadaian breed puppy in group. The winner receives a pale blue rosette in the case of the puppy, a pink and blue rosette if the competition is for canadian bred only.

Best In Show

The seven best of group winners are judged for the top award, Best In Show. A rosette of red, white and blue is presented to the winner. If the best in show winner is a puppy or canadian bred puppy, as the case may be, it automatically receives Best Puppy or Canadian Bred Puppy In Show. If the Best In Show winner is not a puppy or canadian bred puppy, the seven dogs awarded with best puppy or canadian bred puppy in group in each group will compete for the award of best puppy in show. Here again the winner recieves either a pale blue rosette or a pink and blue rosette according to the classification.

RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS

1) The club reserves the right to remove any person from the show. The show superintendent shall have full control of these shows and trials, which will be covered by ckc rules

2) Any dog excused by the show superintendent or veterinarian for any reason shall not compete in any class for any awards for the balance of the show.

3) The show committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of accident or misfortune to either dogs, exhibitors, spectators or vendors.

4) Dogs must be on grounds 1hour prior to the judging of their breed

5) The owner of a dog entered in these shows is entirely responsible for any error in entering his/her dog regardless of how or by whom the entry was made

6) Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for their dogs and equipment left at the show grounds

7) Dogs are to be excercised in designated areas only, not in vicinity of the show rings

8) All recreational units will have buckets underneath for their sinks drains. Anyone found discharging water on the grounds will be removed by order of the health department, and may be subject to a fine

9) If, because of civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the club, it is impossible to open or complete the show, there is no refund of entry

10) Dogs must be on leash at all times on the show grounds or within the show building with the exception of the obedience rings.

All exhibitors, handlers and patrons are expected to know and abide by the ckc dog show rules

Champions and Championship Points

section #1 A dog awarded Winners at a Championship show held under these dog show rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0-5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded winners shall be a provided hereunder

A class dog awarded Best In Show at an all breed Championship show will be credited with 5points inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition a dog that is disqualified or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall be included in the calculation for championship points. (Absentees are not to be included) In order for a dog to be recognized as a Canadian Champion it must 1) earn at least 10 Championship points under at least 3 different judges, and 2) be individually registered in the records of the ckc or have a ckc event registration number.

Specialty Shows

Specialty shows often hold a number of additional classes, called "un-offical classes".

Stud Dog and Get The stud dog and two offspring compete. The two or more offspring are compared and the dog the judge feels best is replicating himself is awarded Best Stud Dog

Brood Bitch The brood bitch and two offspring compete. The two or more offspring are compared to the brood bitch. The bitch the judge feels best is replicating himself is awarded Best Brood Bitch

Vetreran Dog / Bitch this class maybe split into age groups. Spayed/Neutered dogs may compete his this class. The first of each age group will compete for Best Veteran.

Altered Class spayed/neutered dogs of any age may compete in this class. The class is divided by sex. The best of each sex will compete for Best Altered

Brace two dogs are placed on one lead and compared to one and other. The pair the judge feels best move together and best represent each other will be awarded best brace

Team four dogs are placed on one lead and compared to one and other. The team the judge feels is best represented will be awarded Best Team

There are many other classes that maybe part of a specialty. Some specialties will divide into classes of best gait, best head etc.. check your specialty premium list and enjoy!

National breed clubs will get prestigious judges and offer terrific prizes and opportunities for breed lovers to socialize.

Boosters and Supported Entries

these fall somewhere between specialties and all breed shows. Boosters are held as part of a regular all breed show, but prizes are given for BOB, BOS, BOW and BPIB. Often there are prizes for every class winner, as well as for Winners Male and Female. Boosters often include a trophy for the breed member who places highest at a associated obedience trial. The prizes will be determined by the folks who put the booster on.

WE HAVE 5 GIRLS AND 6 BOYS!!!

The proud parents of this litter is "Avro" AM CAN CH Tollwest Magic Arrow and "Chili" Tollchester's Too Hot Too Handle. This is a repeat breeding of some very nice puppies.

Chili is from our Nautica and Cajun litter born in January 2007. She is from our girl Storm who is a very laid back easy going, quiet girl who in the home is very easy to live with. Storm is a hard working girl outside the home andis easy to train and a hard worker. The father of Chiliis also a laid back boy who's a family man. Cajun is very easy to live with and loves children. He's a good working dog and has a will to please. Chili takes after both her parents andis calm and easy going and very easy to live with, with a great work ethic. The father of Chili's litter is Avro who was bred by Lisa Porter of Tollwest Kennels in AB. Avro lives in Burnaby BC with Chris Chromy and is a family man as well. He loves to work andis active in agility and obedience. Avro is a quick learner and works well. He does have a independent side and can get distracted, like any boy, when girls are present.

A friendly reminder that Tollchester will be having their annual picnic at Hayward Lake in Mission BC on June 5th! We are requesting anyone wishing to come to the event to RSVP (tollchester@shaw.ca). We will be supplying goody bags, lunches for families and there will be a few toller related 'door prizes'.

We plan to supply tennis balls at the picnic for the redheads so please leave all sentimental toys at home - we are having the picnic in the dog park so there a chance things may get misplaced. We will have a few water dishes on location for the dogs - if you're dog is concerned about communal water I would suggest bringing a private water dish for them. Otherwise,all you need to bring to the event is your families and tollers :o)

Tollers in Fort Saint John Dog Show

It was a great weekend for Tollers in FSJ, BC at the annual 2010 dog show. "Topper" Tollchester's Top Secret owned by Simone Sortwell and Connie Redmond recieved 2 best of breedss and a group 4th, while "Max" recieved 4 best of breeds, 2 group 3rds and a group 1st, while our sweet little man "Bogey" Douance Hates Meeces To Pieces, owned by Simone Sortwell and fostered by Christy Moschopedis recieved a best puppy in breed the only day he was entered! It's nice to see the judges awarding different styles of correct tollers in the ring and we thank them all for their recognition.

**Shine has a home pending**

We currently have a lovely female available from our December 27, 2009 litter from Ziggy and Harmony. Her conformation and temperement would make a wonderful dog for sports,field and/or as a family companion. She loves to retrieve, is a fast learner and is very sweet and cuddly. She is currently being house trained and is crate trained. We are taking applications for a this lovely young lady - preference will go to a home interested in breeding or willing to let us breed a litter from her. Storm and Danny Puppy Evaluations

Storm and Danny's puppy evaluations for structure were done on May 6, 2010. The litter has a nice balance in the temperements of the puppies - all puppies are outgoing, cuddly, sweet and egure to please their owners. The structure of the puppies varies but overall is of excellent quality. Below is pictures and evaluations of Storm and Danny's litter, the "British Slang" litter .....

"Abelena" is our show/breeding female from this litter. She is well balanced with nice angles, a good topline, nice tailset, good layback and a pretty head. She has the most 'look at me' attitude in the litter and is very full of herself. We are excited by her potential as a future show dog. She is currently pending a home interested in breeding/show.

"Ashford" is one of our show and breeding males from this litter. He is a well balanced boy with a nice topline, good tailset, nice layback, and a pretty head. He is a very laid back boy in the home who likes to kick back and take it easy when there's no work to be done. However, when there's playing or work to be done he gives it his all. "Bramley" is one of our show males from the litter. He is a well balanced boy, with a good topline, nice tailset, tight feet, nice layback, good length of neck with a nice head and ideal markings. He is a very sweet boy who loves to snuggle. He's always willing to give you a kiss and cuddle into your neck after nudging your cheek. Bramley has gone to California to a lovely young lady who will be doing 4-H with him. Watch for this young man in the rings near you!

"Charles" is our pet male puppy in the litter. He is well balanced with a nice topline, good tailset, nice layback, good length in neck and a pretty head. Charles, who is now Chance is a lovely boy who likes to snuggle and is always willing to give you a kiss on the nose. Chance has gone to Ontario to a very nice family where he will be a loving companion.

"Kinsey" is our pet female puppy in the litter. She has a pretty head, with good length of neck, good length of body, a nice tailset, a very pretty head and ideal markings. She is a very sweet and laid back girl. She's a little more independent like her mother who doesn't follow the crowd. Kinsey has gone to live in the Lower Mainland with a wonderful family where she will be a loving companion.

MacKay is a nice boy who is affectionate and loves to spend time with his family. He loves children and is good with other animals. He has moderate energy and is happy doing anything with his family. He's a decent retriever but occasionally forgets its a game that requires returning the ball to his owner. He is looking for a family where he can be a loving companion.

MacKay is crate trained, tolerates cats, is good with children and loves other dogs. MacKay is CKC registered, is current on his vaccines/deworming/fea control and will come with a care package (toys, leash, collar, information about his pedigree etc..)

"Abelena" is a pretty girl who is very outgoing and loves to give kisses. She's a cuddly and sweet girl who enjoys a nice nap in a lap. She likes to retrieve and is motivated easily by food! She will be going to live with a lovely family in the lower mainland.

"Kinsey" is also a pretty girl who is outgoing. She is currently our 'pick female' conformationally. Kinsey is a little spit fire with her brothers and sisters and will not take anything from anybody no matter what! Kinsey is also a good retriever and enjoys her tennis ball. Will be re-evaluated again at 8 weeks to see if she will be going to a breeding home.

"Ashford" is a very handsome young man who at the current time is our 'pick male' structurally. He also has the personalit to boot! He's a outgoing man with a 'look at me' attitude. He's got a mind of his own but is easily persuaded by food. He also is a wonderful retriever and enjoys the dumbell. Will be re-evaluated at 8 weeks to see if he will be going to California!

"Bramley" is a very handsome young man who is our 'second pick male' structurally. He also has the personality of a show dog. He's outgoing and is always proud of how pretty he looks! He's a good retriever and enjoys carrying around his teddy bear (well actually a duck). Will be re-evaluated at 8 weeks to see if he will be going to California!

"Charles" is a very sweet boy who loves to cuddle. He's got a great companion personality because he loves everyone and everything. He's our little 'marsh mellow'. He too enjoys retrieving and his favorite thing to retrieve is anything he can find! He will be going to live with a lovely family in Ontario.

JUNE 5TH TOLLER PICNIC

Tollchester will be having their annual picnic at Hayward Lake in Mission BC on June 5th! We are requesting anyone wishing to come to the event to RSVP (tollchester@shaw.ca). We will be supplying goody bags, lunches for families and there will be a few toller related 'door prizes'.

We plan to supply tennis balls at the picnic for the redheads so please leave all sentimental toys at home - we are having the picnic in the dog park so there a chance things may get misplaced. We will have a few water dishes on location for the dogs - if you're dog is concerned about communal water I would suggest bringing a private water dish for them. Otherwise,all you need to bring to the event is your families and tollers :o)

All the pups in this litter reacted well to changes and are not nervous of new surroundings or noises. They all love new introductions and are outgoing with new animals, children, adults etc. The pups are willing to take on new challenges with enthusiasm and they have attitudes which will make them wonderful companion animals.

Girl "Godiva" is a little spitfire like her mother! She's the wild child in the family and the puppy who likes to voice her opinion! Her tail is constantly wagging and she loves everyone and everything. She thinks lifes a party and celebrates it often. Godiva will be going to live with a lovely family in Portland OR.

Boy "Leonidas" aka 'Nick' is the sweet little boy in the litter. He has a mind of his own but is always willing to stop to please you. He likes to snuggle and is a real cute cuddle bug. He is a moderate energy puppy with the best 'off' switch in the litter! Nick will be going to live with a lovely family in North Vancouver.

Boy "Galler" is a handsome young man who is a wannabe show puppy. He has the nicest structure in the litter and has personality to burn. Boy "Marcolini" is similar in temperement to his little brother Leonidas. The two are spitting images of each other both in looks and temperement. Leonidas is Marcolini's 'mini me'! Marcolini will be going to live with a lovely family in Seattle WA.

Great Wins Easter Weekend at the Chilliwack Dog Show!

This weekend was a lovely dog show in Chilliwack with every day a toller placing in group or winning the puppy group (or show!). On Friday April 2, 2010 our friends lovely boy a son of Toppers brother Gunner who we co-own with Til Niquidet from the Jr Puppy class (6-9 months) won the Sporting Dog Puppy Group! On Saturday another friend of ours lovely girl won the Sporting Dog Puppy Group and went on to win Best Puppy In Show! Sunday a special male toller won a Group 3rd for 107 points! Followed by "Topper" MBPIG BPISS AM CAN CH Tollchester's Top Secret who was owner handled by myself (and co-owned by Connie Redmond) won a Group 3rd for 117 points! Overall a great weekend for the breed... we want to thank everyone for coming out to the show and supporting the entry that ranged from 14-22 tollers over the weekend. Paw on the back for all the supporters, breeders and owners of the tollers at the show over the weekend!

Zoe is looking for a home!

**Zoe has found a home ** Zoe is a 16 weeks old toller puppy who's family (for the past two months) had to give her up due to family issues that prevented them from keeping her *sigh* She misses her family and hopes one day to find a new loving forever home.

Zoe was born on December 2, 2009 by Bailey and MacKay. She's a very sweet girl who is super smart and always looking for something new to learn. She's a moderate to high energy toller puppy who has a decent 'off switch' for cuddle time with her family.

Topper goes to the UK!

Topper took his first flight over the pond on March 9, 2010 with his owners Simone Sortwell and Connie Redmond for a week trip in Europe. Half the days spent were spent in Holland seeing bikes, going on canal cruises and seeing the Van Gough museum. While the other half of the days were spent visiting the UK which included a country trip (just outside of Chipping Norton), a visit to the warwick castle and the dog show CRUFTS!

Topper brought along his buddy Jack "Jocar's Wild Tollchester" to keep him company in the cargo hold during his flight from Seattle WA to the Netherlands. To Jacks surprise on the other side was his new wonderful family, the Elliots waiting for him!

On March 10, 2010 Topper and his "bitches" (Connie and Simone) arrived at the Amsterdam Airport on a non-stop flight from Seattle. The four of them met up with Gary Elliot (Jacks new human daddy) for a car ride to the Hook of Holland Ferry for a 6 hour boat ride into Harwich, UK. Topper and his owners spent the day on Ferry taking a few quick naps in their room, having a meal at sea and having Topper phyiscally examined in both Holland and Harwich to ensure he was chipped, rabies vaccinated and properly tick/flea and dewormed for his entry into the UK. When they arrived in Harwich their new friend Gary drove them a hour to their hotel in Ipswitch, UK where they would spend the night.

On March 11, 2010 the trio (Topper, Simone and Connie) made the journey via GPS to the car rental lot where they picked up their VW tdi Jetta. It was a nice car to drive but well used. This car had the noisiest pair of windshield whippers immaginable and what Simone refured to as the "hot flash" air control system which only had one working speed of fan to warm the car.. the speed of course being Hi :P After the vehicle was assigned Connie cautiously got into the drivers side of the car and the journey of driving on the left side of the road began! It was a short trip to the local hospital where Simone decided to test out the local health care system. After 2.5hours, a doctors perscription, a few wrong turns in the hospital and 7.50pounds she had her perscription for her antibiotic and they were on the road once again. After 30 mins of a detour hitting the curbs on the left hand side and doing the same 2 round abouts approx a block from the hospital Simone and Connie found there way out of Ipswitch to make their way towards Chipping Norton. Despite a few detours the trip was successful and later that day they found their way to the "Tollgate Inn" where the trio had their dinner and spent the night with a few lovely friends of Connie's.

On March 12, 2010 Simone and Connie decided to test the local pet care health system so Topper was taken to the vet where he was treated for a UTI with antibiotics - BTW his visit was more then 7.50 pounds but less then 2.5 hours ;) Following the visit at the vet the road trip to Birmingham began. The drive to the motorway through the country was lovely and historic - and surprisingly only one curb fell victim to the N.American style of driving. Connie, Simone and Topper arrived at their hotel in Birmingham later in the day where they would check in and Topper would spend the afternoon enjoying a nap. Simone and Connie went to the Crufts dog show for terrier and hound day were they were overwhelmed with an overload of breed information, shopping, dogs, and lots of walking from hall to hall. During the visit to the show Simone and Connie tried to locate a "dog bathing area" where Topper could be bathed prior to the show. To their surprise no-one in England baths their dogs at a dog show! Actually the question alone when asking the locals was responded to with a bewildered look and uncertainty about why that would even be considered. Dinner approached quickly as the day trucked on... Simone and Connie then went back to the hotel room where they would spend the late afternoon on a nice walk with Topper and a dinner at the hotel. Later in the evening the day would end with watching terriers run in circles in a huge ring and be placed 1-4 according to their quality as assesed by the judge at group level.

On March 13, 2010 the plans were made to go and visit Warwick castle for a day in England. The trip to the castle was made via train which was located a few short blocks from the hotel. It was amazing to see how many people ride the train with their dogs and how useful the connections were. It was even more amazing how many people are in the Birmingham mall at 11am the day before mothers day in the UK! The trip was succesful and they arrived at the Castle later during the day ...it was a lovely castle but the theme of the grounds gave a very commercial disney feeling - Simone had the song "it's a small world" repeating in her head during the entire visit. Later in the evening when returning to the hotel Topper was prepared (yes, we bathed him!) for his next day at the show.

On March 14, 2010 the Crufts dog show for GUNDOGS begins! With a entry of 185 tollers Topper, Simone and Connie make their way to the show bright and early to ensure they don't get lost in the crowds prior to ring time. At the show Topper is prepared for his debut with a quick spritz and brush prior to his run around the ring. Simone and Topper enter the ring with Topper as cool as a cucumber and Simone more stressed then ever seen before inside a conformation ring. The two of them were 4th in the line up for Topper to be examined by the judge. They were requested to run around the ring in a circle and triangle so the judge could properally assess the gait and structure of Topper in comparison to the other 18 tollers in the open dog class! Despite the fact that Simone could barely breath and was shaking due to nerves Topper won the Open dog class where he would go on to compete for the Best Dog Category against the other class winners. Topper moved onto the Best Dog category where he competed against other very nice boys - Topper received the Reserve Dog award (aka 2nd best) in this class and would not move forward to best of breed. Topper was requested by a local supporter of Crufts to be interviewed with his owners on camera for a short clip about the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever! Topper had a blast showing off his Canadian pride with his signature red canada gloves he picked up a few weeks before a the Olympics in Vancouver! Following the breed Topper, Simone and Connie made there back to their hotel where they would pick up their car and make the drive to Ipswitch to return the vehicle. Upon returning to Avis the trio made their way to the train and took a quick train ride to Harwich where they would jump aboard the 1115pm ferry to Holland!

On March 15, 2010 Topper, Connie and Simone arrived in Holland at 745am where they would jump aboard a train to Schipol airport to hitch a ride with the local shuttle to their hotel located close to the airport. Upon arriving at the hotel the bags were unloaded in the room and a quick nap was taken prior to spending the day in Amsterdame. Later that afternoon Simone and Connie jumped aboard a train headed toward Amsterdam! When they arrived at the Center of the city they got aboard a canal cruise to get a brief history of the surrounding area and get a ride to the local Van Gough museum. The museum was 4 floors of gorgeous paintings and was rich in history of Van Gough and his timeless art. It was almost 6pm by the time they departed from the museum and were too late to miss their canal ride back to the center. This is when the adventure of public transit via bus in Amsterdam beginings! The three walked to the nearest bus stop where the question of cost of the bus was un-known by the locals. Confused Connie and Simone pilled onto the bus in search for answers... to their surprised they were informed they needed to by a bus pass but weren't given any additional information on where! So they decided to take a step off the bus and wait for the next trame which was packed full of people ...some of whom looked as equally as confused as they were. The crowed moved quickly and they were shuffled aboard a rail bus that was packed like a can of sardines headed for the center. Upon arriving at the center they made their way off the bus and onto the streets of Amsterdam where is was pooring rain at this time. They made their way through the crowds to a part of the red light district where head and sex shops seemed to overwhelm the street. Knowing they probably wouldn't find a place to eat along that strip they made there was a few blocks over in search of a restraunt. They decided to end there search shortly after it began as their jeans and jackets were dripping from the current weather. The train station was a few roads from where they were so they made the excecutive discision to hop aboard the train back to the hotel were they would have a lovely meal in dry clothing only a few steps from their hotel room.

On March 16, 2010 the trio jumped aboard the shuttle to the airport where they would begin the treck back to Seattle WA!

Ziggy and Harmony 7 week evaluations

"Cody" is a gorgeous boy who is very outgoing and friendly. He loves everyone and everything and isn't afraid of taking on a challenge. He's a joy to be around and has tons of personalty. This young man will be going to live as a companion in a family home in the Lower Mainland of BC.

"Cosmo" is a very sweet and loving boy who's Mr.Mellow. He's a very pleasing young man who loves to make his owners happy. He has a great off switch which will make him the ideal family man. Cosmo will be going to live as a companion with a couple in the Lower Mainland of BC

"Dancer" is a very laid back easy going girl. She is by far the most laid back puppy in the litter.. although her brother Cosmo is a near second! She will be going to her new home on Vancouver Island.

"Dickens" is a gorgeous boy who has lovelly structure. He's a very easy going boy who is sweet and easily motivated. He's our "pick puppy" in the litter who will be PRA tested for breeding later this month. He has high hopes of moving to a toller home in Quebec next month :o)

"Galaxy" now "Jeep" has the body type and temperament that is making him a great working dog. He's very outgoing with lots of personality. He loves to please and is willing to do anything for food! He is living with his new family in Roseburg, Oregon.
"Jackson" is a flashy boy who is easy going and fun loving. He's a pretty boy who we have high hopes of showing in the conformation ring one day. Jackson is currently staying at Tollchester.

"Marvel" is a handsome young man who is very sweet and outgoing. He's a moderate energy boy with a good 'off switch' which makes him the ideal family dog. Marvel has gone to live in Seattle WA. He loves his new family and enjoys going to work with them at Microsoft and Google.

"Nova" is a fun loving girl who loves attention. She is alway egure to please and easily motivated. She is going to make a ideal companion for her new family. Her family and I plan to breed Nova in the future pending clearances. Nova is living with a lovely family in Port Alberni BC

"Shine" is very sweet and easy going with the occasional stubborn streak. She reminds me a lot of her mother and aunty! She is currently staying at Tollchester.

"Star" is a pretty girl who is outgoing, loves everyone and everything. She loves to snuggle and will sleep in your lap for hours. She's a easily motivated girl who will do wonderful as a family pet. She has gone to her new family home in Vancouver BC.

The "Star" litter is 6 weeks old. Everyone has started eating solid meals, is developing their individual personalities and a few have even considered moving out of the home! There is a signifigant size variation in this litter of 11 with 2 of the girls and one of the boys being on the 'smaller' side of the standard for their age, 1 girl and 2 boys being average for their age and 5 being large for their age! Bailey and MacKays puppies @ 6 weeks

"Woops" is a very outgoing boy with a great sense of humor. He has a 'look at me personality' and loves to strut his stuff. He is super sweet and loves to cuddle with people. He's a very happy boy and always seems to have his tail up and wagging. He will be going to his new home in the lower mainland later this month.

"Missy" is a very sweet and quiet girl. She loves spending time playing with her sisters and brothers. She's has the 'aloof' part of the toller standard in her temperament and takes a little time to get used to new people. Once she knows you, you are her friend for life. Missy loves to snuggle and will cuddle with you for hours. She's looking for a home who can spend time over socializing her.

"Daisy" is tied for the most laid back puppy award in the litter with her sister Issy. She has a great off switch and loves to snuggle with her people. She's also very outgoing but not to the point of having the 'evil puppy' gene. She loves to play and is not afraid to look like a goof when needed. She will be going to live with her new family in PA later this month or early February.

"Issy" is a outgoing girl who has a moderate energy level - both her and her sister Daisy share the prize of most laid back puppy in the litter. Issy has a very nice personality being playful with you yet contains a off switch which alows her to spend down time with you cuddling. She has the ideal family pet temperament. Issy will be going to live in Edmonton in February with her new family.

"Diddy" is super outgoing and has tones of attitude. He loves to play with his sibblings and his family. He is also very sweet and has a great off switch - one turns him into a clown and off turns him into the worlds best lap dog. He is a fun boy and we have enjoyed having him. He will be going to live with his new family in the Lower Mainland later this month.

"Carin" shares the most outgoing puppy prize with her sister. She has developed quite the personality and loves to make a fool out of herself when she's playing. She is a majority of the time the puppy on the bottom of a wrestling match but always come out with a cheeky smile on her face when the game is over. She will be going to live with her new family in WA later this month.

"Beary" is tied with Carin for the most outgoing puppy prize. She is a cheeky devil and is always the last puppy standing before nap time. She is full of attitude and always has a evil smile on her face. She has been so much fun to have around and we will miss our little trouble maker when she's gone. She is going to live with her new family in the Lower Mainland later this month.

The "star" litter is growing fast! All the pups are starting to open their eyes and are exploring their area more and more everyday!

Harmony is being "super mom" and is enjoying raising these lovely pups. She truely is a over-achiever and is doing a wonderful job with her crew.

Everyone is enjoying the open bar! They are all steadily putting on weight and are healthy and happy.

The Bailey and MacKay pups are 4 weeks old!

Puppies have started to eat on their own and are developing beautifully! Each pup is starting to become more independent and they are all starting to get there own personalities.

"Diddy" (1st on the top row) is a very nice boy who likes to play. He's outgoing with people and loves to 'strut his stuff"

"Woops" (2nd on the top row) is a character with lots of 'look at me' personality. He's tail is always wagging and he's a joy to have around.

"Missy" (3rd on the top row) is very sweet girl who will cuddle with you for hours! She is easily persuaded to do things with food.

"Carin" (4th on top row) is a cuddle bug. She loves to be around people and is always welcoming new people when they come to visit.

"Beary" (1st on the bottom row) is the shyiest girl in the litter. She takes a few minutes to warm up to new people but once you're her friend you're a friend for life.

"Daisy" (2nd on bottom row) loves to snuggle. She is the lowest energy puppy in the litter which I'd still say is moderate. She's got a great off switch and settles down for naps in your lap easily.

"Issy" (3rd on the bottom) is a very sweet and quiet girl. She loves to spend time in your lap to snuggle. She loves everything and never complains about anything.

Good bye 2009! We will miss you.

2009 was a good year for Tollchester Kennels. We had 3 lovely events in BC including a picnic in May at Hayward Lake, a BBQ in White Rock in July and a Coffee and Donuts play date at Buntzen in October! Thank-you to everyone who came out to enjoy the events. We look forward to following a annual tradition of these three events!

In 2009 we had a few conformation 'stars' in our family in Canada. 'Topper' CH Tollchester's Top Secret (Storm x Maverick) who is co-owned with Connie Redmond finished off the year (unoffical stats currently) as #2 Toller in Canada including several group placements and a Award of Merrit at the Regional Specialty in White Rock BC! Thank-you to everyone who supported him during his year showing in Canada. "Ziggy" CH Pikkinokka's Ziggy Stardust who is co-owned with Connie Redmond finished off the year #6 in Canada in with only a few weekends of shows for the year he recieved a Group 3rd at the largest show in Canada and a Award of Merrit at the Ontatrio National Specialty! "Piper" CH Tollchester's Christmas Wish (Flare X Maverick) co-owned with Mike Bush finished her Championship this year in fine style in 3 weekends! "Raiden" CH Tollchester Storms Kelticfox (Storm X Cajun) co-owned with Kerri VanEaton finished his Championship under a year of age with a Best Puppy in Specialty Show! "Tanya" CH Tollchester Dreams Come True (Nautica X Cloud) finished her Championship this year with a few very nice wins as well this year! We look forward to another great year in the conformation ring in 2010.

In the USA we also seen a few conformation stars in the family! "Topper" CH Tollchester's Top Secret in only three weekends in the ring finished the year with a Award of Merrit at the Texas specialty and a Group 2nd earning him #10 All Breed Toller in the US! "Nautica" CH Tollchester It's About Time (Storm X Toffee) had a few lovely wins in WA and OH to finish her Championship! "Puzzle" CH Tollchester's Puzzle Pieces (Storm X Reagan) owned by Deb Gibbs finished her Championship with a few nice wins as well last year!

Overseas we also saw a star last year.. yeah! "Osiris" Tollwest Tollchester Turn M'on (Bounce X Topper) finished his Luxemburg Championship! He is owned by Els in Belgium.

In obedience one of our Manchester's "Eddie" Tollchester's Black Vortex owned by Lale Aksu had a good year starting with the completion of his Rally Novice Title! Our duck tollers "Mars" Tollchester Life On Mars (Pepsi x Ziggy) owned by Christi Weger achieved his Rally Novice title. While "Flirt" Tollchester Top O'Th World (Storm X Maverick) owned with Bev March recieved her Canine Good Neighbour title!

We are proud to announce the arrival of our latest litter from "Harmony" AM CH Tollchester California Dreamin' and "Ziggy" AM CAN CH Pikkinokka's Ziggy Stardust! 11 puppies, 7 boys and 4 girls were born December 27th, 2009.

Harmony is a lovely girl who is here to visit us from California for a few months to raise this gorgeous litter. We are very excited by the potential of this lovely bunch of puppies.

Tollchester Toller Event November 7, 2009

Tollchester Kennels will be hosting a toller meet and greet at Buntzen Lake in Coquitlam BC on November 7, 2009 between 11am and 2pm. We welcome all of our families and their friends to come out and join us for the day with your furry companions. It will be a fun day at the water with other toller families. You will have the opportunity to meet others who own dogs from our kennel and possibly the sister and/or brothers of your wonderful toller! Come out and enjoy the fun! Please RSVP to tollchester@gmail.com for the event as we will be supplying lunches for families and there will be a few toller related 'door prizes'.

We plan to supply tennis balls at the picnic for the redheads so please leave all sentimental toys at home - we are having the picnic in the dog park so there a chance things may get misplaced. We will have a few water dishes on location for the dogs - if you're dog is concerned about communal water I would suggest bringing a private water dish for them. Otherwise, I can't think of anything else people need to bring to the event other then their families and tollers :o)

She's a gorgeous girl who is super intelligent, loves to please and has a great working temperament ....she has the potential to excel in almost anything her owners put their mind to!

Crave has lots to offer the genepool in tollers with her superb structure and pedigree. We are looking for a home for her who would consider breeding a litter with her in the future. She is available to a current breeder or on a mentorship program to someone interested in learning more about breeding tollers.

Dog Shows on the go!

July and August have been a busy busy month for dog shows for Tollchester Kennels. On July 18th at the Regional Specialty our boy "Topper" picked up a Award Of Merritt! That evening we had a very successful BBQ after the show ...it was lovely to see everyone again! Thank you everyone who participated. Anyone who has photo's please email them to me at tollchester@gmail.com for the end of year newsletter we will be putting together.

In August dog shows ran on Vancouver Island from August 1st to August 9th! During the 'circuit' we finished a CHAMPIONSHIP on our lovely girl "Piper" who is now CH Tollchester's Christmas Wish. Topper also had a successful week going Best Of Breed all 8 days at the show and picking up a Group 3rd in the Sporting Dog Group on August 1st!

Being a dog show enthusiast the shows didn't stop there this weekend Simone and Topper will be heading up to the Kooteny's for 10 more days on the road! Topper will show at Castlegar and Cranbook shows this weekend and next weekend... Paws crossed for them.

After such a successful Picnic earlier this year we look forward to putting on one again before year end! Plans are currently being made for a picnic at Buntzen lake on October 3rd. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the date - we will have more details to come in the next few weeks!!!

Feather and Avro litter - 6 week evaluations

Aerial is a real character with her 'look at me' personality. Aerial loves giving kisses and will lick a person for hours if she could! Her tail is always in constant motion and she's happy 24/7.

Merry is a confident girl who is food motivated - we had to remove the bait for this picture because she didn't want to stand still due to her over excitement for the cheese! She's very sweet and loves being with her family.

Joy is a sweet girl who loves to please. She's very outgoing and will greet you with kisses and her tail in constant motion. She's very sweet and loves to snuggle. She's our 'little princess' in the litter.

Chief is a gorgeous boy who is a strong leader aka 'alpha'. He's the 'leader of the pack' in this litter and is a bit of a control freak over them. He loves attention from visitors and has a will to please his owners.

Captain is a lovely boy who has 'come out of his shell' in the past week. His gone from our quiet boy who was a little reactive into a very happy boy who's not fazed by change and loves to get your attention no matter what it takes!

Alpine is a nice boy who is sweet and cuddly. He's a real family man who loves to please. He's Mr. Mellow in the litter with a low energy level in the home but when out to play has a wonderful 'on' switch.

Merry is a pretty girl from who has lovely angles and a strong rear with a nice short hock. She's a very sweet girl who enjoys snuggling.

Joy is a nice girl with a nice front, pretty head and great expression. She is the clown in the family and loves to entertain people.

Aerial is a pretty girl with a lovely front, pretty head and good expression. She moves with purpose with her tail in constant motion. She's a firecracker who leads the pack and is the first to greet people with her 'look at me' attitude

Chief is a very nice boy with lovely balance, a good front and a nice masculine head. He helps lead the
pack with the help of his sister. He's a fast learner who's always willing to negotiate the terms of his contract when requested to work.

Captain is a nice boy with beautiful movement. He is structurally balanced with all his white in all the right places. He is a laid back gentlemen who loves to please.

Alpine is a nice boy with good balance and angles with a pretty head and all his white in all the right places. Captain follows directions well from others in the pack but is willing to take on the lead role in the event someone can't do their job.

Spring 2009 Tollchester Toller Picnic

The first picnic hosted by Tollchester Reg'd was held today at Hayward Lake. It was a great day for the Tollchester toller picnic at the dog park in Mission BC. The weather was perfect, the dogs kept busy swimming for hours, there was plenty of prizes and food, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

We'd like to thank those who helped organize the event. Paul Connelly, for your goody bag designs (bumper stickers and magnets), banners and signs. Vicki Sortwell, for your support and transportation which helped make things happen. Rachel Schatz for the wonderful photo's you took today which will be a perfect contribute to our Newsletter coming out at the end of the year. Connie Redmond for your donations to our 'door prizes' draws. Last but deffinetly not least, all of you who came out and supported the event. We look forward to seeing y'all again later this year at Tollchester BBQ in July!

FEATHER AND AVRO LITTER BORN APRIL 26, 2009 - 4 week evaluations

Joy is a pretty girl who is very sweet and easy going. She has a stubborn streak during photo sessions but is easily convinced to stand for a piece of cheese :) She's a easy girl to be around because she's can be bribed and always willing to please.

Merry is very sweet girl who will cuddle with you for hours! She loves to be around 'her people' and is great companion. Merry is a quiet girl who doesn't bark or scream. Instead she shows her character with playful *grrrs* when people interact with her during playtime.

Chief is Mr. personality! His tail is always wagging and he's happy to see everyone. He is our vocal puppy in the crowd who likes to whine when things aren't going as he planned - he's growing out of it as he matures. He's very food motivated and will suckle earlobes if he feels there's a chance they will produce milk.

Alpine is very mellow and loves to snuggle. He's outgoing and greets people with his tail wagging. He's got a great off switch and settles down for naps in your lap easily. He's loves to please and a bit of a flirt!

Captain is the quietest puppy in the litter who likes to spend time with people and warms up to strangers quickly. He currently has the lowest energy in the litter and is always willing to please.

Aerial is currently my pick female by temperament. She is a real spitfire with tons of 'look at me' personality. She's always wagging her tail and a real joy to be around. She's a higher energy girl who will need a home that is committed to a exercise and training routine.

Chili X Avro litter born April 13, 2009

Tollchester Kennels has evaluated their April 13, 2009 litter by Avro and Chili. It's a very uniform litter with wonderful structure and easy going temperament puppies. We are very excited by this litter.

This breeding is a line breeding on some amazing dogs in the history of tollers. We look forward to see how these young ones grow up and look forward to hearing about their adventures with their new owners!

We are very excited by this litter because they have perfect 'off' switches and will settle down and snuggle with you. However, when taken out to play they will work hard and give it their all. There is a good variation of size in the litter with girls who should be on the smaller side of the scale around 17" and boys who look like they will be at the top end of the standard at 21" at the shoulder.

Puppy play dates will be within the next few weeks! Come one, come all :o)
